(Lisbon, Portugal)

Hey, friends!

I am a Luso-Canadian children’s writer. Luso, in case you didn’t know, means of Portuguese descent. My parents and sisters emigrated to Canada from Portugal, and I was later born in Montreal. We then moved to Quebec City, a place that gave me snowy, magical memories, later leaving for Ontario where I established roots.

My father was a seafarer and a great storyteller, my sisters were very artsy, and my mom wrote poetry. In her nineties, my mother still writes soul-stirring poems!

My science degree had me working in laboratories and later running a hospital research ethics board for many years. Early on, during a challenging time, I turned to picture book-writing as a means of escape and haven’t stopped. Now I write full time for both young children and young adults!

Because of my lifelong interest in photography, I have included a photo blog, where I will probably document my journey to publication.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
